Bio

---------------------------------------------

Magdalena Blom, born 1987 is a multimedia artist based in Järna, outside Stockholm. Her practice explores concepts relating to ecofeminist philosophy, emphasising on relationships of cultural dominance and ethics. Blom's research often returns to those two terms theorising feminism through ecology and the latter through the concept of gender.

Blom employs various media, such as wood, textiles, charcoal drawing, sculpture, graphic design and film. In the studio she assembles the art works out of found material, derived straight from nature, her own garden, body or kitchen.

Some of the constructed objects are then utilised as a part of the narrative in Blom's video work, departuring from her personal experiences, often layered with humour.

Magdalena Blom graduated with a Bachelor hons. degree in Fine Art, at the National College of Art and Design, in Dublin, Ireland, 2014. She has exhibited her work both in Sweden and internationally, including Ireland, England, Iceland and Spain.

Magdalena Blom is the founder and Art director of Galleri Majkens, an artist-run gallery devoted to feminist and queer practices, exhibiting both local and international artists on various locations in Stockholm.

Blom is a featured artist at DIEP - Digital Institute for Early Parenthood (UK) and at the art organisation Järna Konstnärsförening in Södertälje.
